It has
no hands.
Not fused. Not stopped. Absent — and with them the movement that would have turned them.
Every other watch is an instrument for measuring something that is not there. It divides what cannot be divided, it counts what does not accumulate, and when the count and the world disagree it is the watch that asks to be corrected.
This one makes no claim at all. There is no hour hand, no minute hand, no seconds hand, and nothing beneath the dial that could drive one. What remains is a surface, finished to the standard the claim would have demanded, and then left to say nothing.
Seventy-seven cuts,
turned from a still centre.
The dial is solid brass, galvanic champagne, cut on a rose engine in the rayonnant manner: seventy-seven rays, drawn outward from a centre that does not move. Not sixty. There are no seconds here for sixty to answer to.
A painted Roman ring closes it, IIII in the old manner, and at six a small seconds sits snailed and recessed — the one complication, and it is empty. The case band is unbroken at three o'clock: no crown, no stem, no aperture, because there is nothing inside to wind.

Before it is made you will be asked to confirm, expressly and in writing, that this object does not indicate time. Not because the law requires it — it does — but because certainty is the product, and you should own it before the gold is cut.
